Curved Seams Bootcamp!
  |
|
Judy
Witkin |
|
Many quilters choose patterns that do not involve curved piecing
simply because they are afraid piecing curves is difficult to do.
Once Judy shows you how simple it can be you will be ready for any
of the traditional block patterns like Double Wedding Ring, Pickle
Dish, Drunkard's Path, etc. that include curved piecing. In this
curved seam bootcamp you can choose from two styles of quilts plus
you 'll learn how to make your own design. Besides having fun you
will be opening the door to countless new quilt ideas! |

Happy
Villages
  |
|
Eloise
Cotugno |
|
Create your own "Happy Village" based on the book by Karen Eckmeier.
Your village might be a Greek hillside village, a Tuscan town, a
tropical vacationland, or your own fantasyland. This is an easy
fabric collage method that offers quick and fun results. Choose
colors that characterize your village vision. Cut simple shapes for
buildings, rooftops, windows, doors, and steps. Glue the shapes in a
pleasing arrangement, cover with tulle, layer with batting and
backing, and free motion quilt around your shapes. You may wish to
add sky, trees, ocean, and other details to enhance your village.
It's your village! Make it happy! |

Hole in the Wall
  |
|
Sheri
Haner |
|
For a sleek, contemporary look the Hole in the Wall is a
terrific pattern and the unique cutting instructions make the sewing
so easy! The blocks are rectangles of four different sizes in a
variety of fabrics with the same fabric in the center of each one -
black in our sample - which makes for a very modern appearance. |

Intermediate Quiltmaking |
|
Darlene
McCollum |
You've
completed the Beginning Quiltmaking class, and you're wondering, "What
now?" This class is just for you. While making a lap-sized sampler
quilt, you will learn seven different piecing techniques—strip piecing, pieced triangles, matching points,
sew-and-flip squared, y-seams, and diagonal piecing. It is a great way

quilt at the same time. |

Lotsa Dots
  |
|
|
Sheri Haner |
|
For a fun, fast and easy quilt, you can't beat the pattern Lotsa
Dots from the book Fab Five - Fun, Fast and
Flirty, by Abby Lane Quilts. The quilt could be called Stacks
of Strips since that's the way the wedge shapes are cut --- from
stacks of strips so it is easy as can be. The class sample is a
light and airy mixture of turquoise and green, but the sky's the
limit as to what you can do with color on this quilt! |

Machine Quilting I
|
|
|
Beth
Kennedy |
In this class, Beth will share her expertise as you work on a specially designed sample that will introduce you to all the basics of machine quilting: a marked design, echo quilting around a design, following a straight-lined grid, and freeform meandering (quilting without lines to follow). You'll also learn Beth's favorite method of applying and mitering binding. |

Outside the Box |
|
Sheri
Haner |
|
The pattern Outside the Box From Fat Quarter Cut-Ups, by Brenda
Henning could be called Follow the Leader Through the Batiks! With a
few cuts into a stack of squares you will create a thin contrasting
line in the block. You creatively arrange the blocks and the
contrast lines meet to form meandering paths through the blocks.
Very effective in its simplicity. If you're looking for a great
pattern for a man, this pattern is perfect. Let's see how easy it is
to think Outside the Box! |

Strippy
Stripes
  |
|
|
Beth Kennedy |
|
This
quilt is a great example of a “let the fabric do the work for you” quilt. By
making simple cuts that go together to form simple blocks you sail through the
construction of the quilt. What you’re left with is playing with the layout of
the blocks to maximize the watercolor aspects of the fabric. So simple, but so
much fun! |

Tiny Little Art Quilts |
|
|
Beth Kennedy |
|
This class will give you an opportunity to stretch your creative
wings while learning new techniques that will help you grow as a
quilter. Beth will teach one new technique each class that you will
be able to incorporate into your own mini-quilt each month. The
quilts are small, only 9" x 11" so they go really fast. It is a
great way to learn new techniques and actually put those techniques
into action! When each quilt is completed you will have a new,
little piece of art can keep or, if you wish, donate to Ami Sims'
group that raffles quilts of this size to raise money for
Alzheimer’s research. You can learn great new stuff and also feel
wonderful about helping to support a worthy cause! |
